"My husband was the State Commander for the Wisconsin Veterans of Foreign Wars 2005-06 year. He had a very unique Commanders pin that was graphically heavy. The theme was "Connection of Veterans" which was displayed by a circle of 12 wartime ribbons from WWII to Iraqi Freedom. The pin had 12 dimensional sides that connected the ribbons rather than a circle and donned images of his Special Forces crest, jumpmaster and HALO wings inside the circle of ribbons.

Being retired from the military Special Forces, he was particularly fond of the many coins he earned during his years of service. He had wanted a coin instead of a pin in his Commander year, but the budget just didn't allow for that.

At the end of his year I felt we still could do this, but a bit differently. I contacted 4Heros and presented the pin design and asked could they replicate it in a coin. With very few modifications, they made an extremely beautiful 12 sided coin. I had 100 numbered coins made as a gift to my husband and the top 100 performers within the State organization. Many of those who received the coin have said they carry it wherever they go and show it off. They also say they never know when he will be in the area and know they will be "coined"!
